Bruce Campbell Biography:
It is the dream of many aspired actors to take part in high budget films and to appear in major movie roles. This was not the case with legendary B movie actor Bruce Campbell. Bruce Lourne Campbell was born on the 22nd of June, 1958 in Birmingham, Michigan and was the youngest son of Loanne Louise and Charles Newton Campbell. Charles happened to be an amateur actor himself and had most probably given inspiration to Bruce from an early age. By the time he was 14, he had taken part in a community theatre production King and I which was a moderate success causing him to appear in several other local theatre productions.
Bruce Campbell Career:
He attended Wylie E. Groves High School where, not surprisingly, he took an active part in the school drama club. It was there that he befriended fellow drama lover Sam Riami with whom he would go on and achieve enormous success. However, he continued his education and went to Western Michigan University where he studied drama. When he came back, he teamed up with Riami and other members of their family to produce the horror comedy The Evil Dead. This could be considered as the first big breakthrough in his career as the movie ended being endorsed by horror novelist Stephen King. Four years after the movie was released, it began to attract serious attention from the public. In fact, it had gone on to become #1 in the U.K. the film’s success spread to the U.S and this initiated the filming of the two sequels Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. Bruce Campbell’s role as Ashley J Ash Williams became something of an icon and is most probably the most favorite role of all his fans.
Bruce Campbell Movies:
Bruce Campbell was active throughout his acting career especially in 90s. He had played the role of Robert Van Helsing in Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat. He was also credited as Jack Forest in Maniac Cop 2. The same year he also played the role of the final Shemp in Darkman. He had wavered a bit from the horror genre by taking part in the 1994 comedy Hudsucker Proxy. He also did the role of Carl Greig in Icebreaker and has also played minor roles in the Spider Man trilogy.
Other Works of Bruce Campbell:
Bruce Campbell was also a very successful writer having published his autobiography “If Chins Could Kill: The Confessions of a B Movie Actor”. The book went on to the New York Times Best Seller List and was perhaps his motivation to write his second book, “Make Love: The Bruce Campbell Way” which was a comedy based on the story of a man trying to make it in an A-list movie. He also contributed in numerous magazines such as X Ray magazine and has also done several comic sketches.
Bruce Campbell is clearly a person who liked to try different things which is proven by the fact that despite being a writer and a producer, he had also the time to record for video games. Spider Man could be considered to be his favorite super hero due to the fact that despite playing minor roles in the movies, he had also taken part in the making of their movie games.
He also had a very illustrious career on television having played numerous roles in series such as The X Files and The Jack of all Trades. He also had the leading role in The Adventures of Brisco Conty Jr where he played the role of Brisco County Jr. His latest role as of late was that of Sam Axe in the action series Burn Notice.
Bruce Campbell’s Personal Life:
Bruce Campbell’s first marriage lasted for 6 years with Christine Deveau, with who he had two daughters Rebecca and Andy. They got divorced in 1989. Afterwards, he married Ida Gearon, a costume designer with who he lives in Jacksonville. Needless to say this man has lived a very adventurous life and has no intention of pursuing his passion.
