Robert Carradine
Robert Carradine Biography:
Robert Reed Carradine has acting running through his veins. Born on 24th March, 1954, Reed is the youngest member of the Carradines—a family of actors. Robert Carradine first appeared on television with a role in a western series called Bonanza. David, his elder brother, allowed Carradine to appear in his TV series Kung Fu. Carradine first played a role in a film in the Cowboys (1972) where he performed alongside John Wayne and Roscoe Lee Browne.

Robert Carradine was born and raised in Hollywood, California. He is the son of John Carradine and Sonia Sorel (nee Henius) who were both actors. Carradine has two brothers Keith and Christopher Carradine, two half brothers from his father’s side, David and Bruce Carradine, and one half brother from his mother’s side, Michael Bowen.

At the age of two, his parents divorced and a bitter court battle over the custody of the children ensued. His father got the custody of Robert Carradine and his brothers. At this time, Carradine was blissfully ignorant of what was happening and thanks to his ignorance and age, he escaped the traumatic phase that his brothers had to go through. After his parents’ divorce, Carradine and his brothers were raised by Doris Grimshaw, their father’s third wife. Carradine got to meet his mother when he was 14 at a Christmas party. Until then, he always thought Doris was his real mother.

Robert Carradine’s Interests:
When Carradine went to high school, he lived in Laurel Canyon, California, with his half brother David. At this time, he threw his energies into two of his favorite interests—music and race car driving. Robert and David were both part of a musical quartet that held performances in Los Angeles and San Francisco clubs.

Robert Carradine’s Career and Movies:
Apart from film The Cowboys, Carradine featured in television series that didn’t last long, still under the same name (The Cowboys). He also appeared as a murderer in Martin Scorsese’ Mean Streets, killing by shooting the character played by David, his brother. Apart from car racing and music, he and David also did some film projects together. You And Me came in 1975 almost the same time they did a musical together called A Country Mile that was never released. Carradine also got to do some camera work for Americana, a classic Vietnam inspired film that got released in 1983.

Robert Carradine continued growing in the acting industry. In 1976, he got a chance to play the role of Jim Cantrell as a cross country race driver in Cannonball. There he demonstrated his prowess and love for race cars.

Robert Carradine’s break came when he landed a role in Coming Home (1978) which was awarded an Oscar. There were speculations then that he just might be the cream of the Carradine acting family. He then went ahead and secured roles for his brothers Keith and David in the Long Riders (1980). In the same year, he had a role in The Big Red One as Fuller. In 1983, he played the role of a rock star in Wavelength. Revenge of the Nerds is Carradine’s biggest success and it came in the year 1984 when he played the role of Lewis Skolnick, the lead nerd.

Robert Carradine received an Honoree in 1998, at the 16th Annual Golden Boot Awards alongside his brothers David and Keith. His elder brother David played a major role in Robert’s acting career. He was with him even in those baby steps that Robert took into acting till he became well established.
