Dan Kleinerman: average number of calories burned in cycling?

0 votes
Most questions about calories burned in different activities have been answered by Dan Kleinerman.
I would like to ask Dan another question about Caloric expenditures.
My favorite activity is cycling on a stationary bike at 40 watts pace.
I would like to know the average number of calories burned in cycling on a stationary bike at 40 watts pace.
Thanks

It is possible to estimate the calories burned in cycling on a stationary bike at 40 watts pace by using the MET data (Metabolic Equivalent of Task).
But weight is required in order to calculate calories burned.

I use Met Calculations for the following activity: cycling, stationary, 30-50 watts, very light to light effort (MET= 3.5).

Calories are per 1 hour of activity(same for male or female).
50 kg (man/woman) = 175 calories.
55 kg (man/woman) = 210 calories.
60 kg (man/woman) = 210 calories.
65 kg (man/woman) = 227.5 calories.
70 kg (man/woman) = 245 calories.
75 kg (man/woman) = 262.5 calories.
80 kg (man/woman) = 280 calories.
85 kg (man/woman) = 297.5 calories.
90 kg (man/woman) = 315 calories.
95 kg (man/woman) = 332.5 calories.
100 kg (man/woman) = 350 calories.
