Orvil Wayne Little
Funeral services for Wayne Little, 73, of Pottsboro, were held, Sept. 18, 2007, in Parkside Baptist Church. Dr. Dennis Hochgraber and Steve Kretzer will officiate. Burial was in Georgetown Cemetery.
He died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, in Texoma Medical Center.
Mr. Little was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Wardville, Okla., the son of Zelmar Rea and Frances Yandell Little. He graduated from Savannah High School in Savannah, Okla., in 1952. He married Betty Lanmon on Aug. 3, 1956, in Hamilton.
He retired in 1974 from the U.S. Air Force and immediately opened Lake-Aire Heating and AC. He retired from that in 1996. He was an avid horseman. He raised and showed quarter horses for many years. He also loved his little Bantam chickens. He was a dedicated member of the Texoma Livestock Show and worked tireless hours with the youth in the poultry division. He was fondly known as “Chicken Little.” He was an avid hunter also and looked forward each year to the annual “deer hunt.” He also loved fiddle music and enjoyed many “jam sessions” and fiddle contests.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilburn Little, Thurmond Little and Preston Little; sister, Eva Lee Cable; and brother-in-law, John Reed.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Little of Pottsboro; sons, Stacy Little and wife Kelly of Pottsboro; daughters, Kathy Faber and husband Michael of Bells; brothers, Jim D. Little and wife Lucille of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sister, Irene Reed of Oklahoma City, Okla.; granddaughters, Misty Lichnovsky and husband Douglas of Sherman, Kristen Scherer and husband Matt of Little Elm; grandsons, Joe M. Faber of Sherman and John Faber and Liz of Sherman; great-grandchildren, Michelle and Chandler Lichnovsky and Bryce and Kailynn Faber; sisters-in-law, Stella Little and Mary Lou Little, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and brother-in-law, Boyd Cable of McAlester, Okla.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Blevins, Terry Thomas, Tony Fox, Michael Trojacek, Matt Waggoner and Bob Schnitker.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
