- Elbert (Bert) Blum
Mr. Elbert “Bert” Blum, 74, of Lake Wylie, S.C., died Oct. 23, 2007. A memorial service was held at the River Hills Community Church on Friday, Oct. 26. Burial was in the church cemetery columbarium. .
Mr. Blum was born Jan. 20 1933, in rural Hamilton County near Jonesboro, the fourth of five children born to Herman Carl Blum and Everline Strickland Blum.
He attended public school at Cranfills Gap and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1954 where he also earned a commission in the U. S. Army, Armor branch. He served on active duty in armored reconnaissance units and in the Army reserve in numerous capacities and assignments, including Brigade Adjutant of the 3rd Battle Group of the 90th Infantry Division.
His civilian career included sales for Standard Oil, management positions for Gulf Atlantic Warehouse Company in Houston and Augusta, and Athens Georgia, then plant management of a chemical fertilizer manufacturing plants in Augusta, Georgia, Florence, Alabama, and Hartsville, South Carolina for the International Mineral and Chemical Corporation. In 1972 , he joined Distribution Technology Incorporated, serving as Vice President of Operations for four start up operations in Virginia and then as Vice President in the Charlotte Corporate office.
Mr. Blum was active in Rotary Club in Virginia for 15 years serving as treasure of the club and of the foundation for many years. In Lake Wylie he was active in the River Hills Lions Club.
He was raised in a Christian home, a God loving community and was a life long Christian who loved his churches wherever he and his family lived.
Mr. Blum was preceded in death by wife Betty Sturgeon Blum.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Blum Nelson and husband John Nelson and their daughter Grace Ann Nelson of Manassas, Va.; a son, Douglas Edward Blum and his sons Bryan and Andrew Blum of Richmond, Virginia; a son Peter Gregory Blum and wife Diane Lindstadt Blum of Atlanta, Ga.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the River Hills Community Church or the River Hills Rescue Squad

Leonard O. Pietzsch, Sr.
Leonard O. Pietzsch Sr., 84, of Temple died Oct. 21, 2007 in a Temple nursing home. Funeral services were held Oct. 25 at Scanio Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Koinm officiating. Burial will be in Greathouse Cemetery.
He was born in Hamilton County to Gus August Pietzsch and Emma Eilers Pietzsch. He went to school and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pottsville and he graduated from Pottsville High School.
He was married to Billie Aycock June 20, 1946. He had worked as a riveter for Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego prior to entering the service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was a Medical Technician in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and he served as a Ward Clerk at McCloskey Hospital. He also worked at an airplane factory in Grand Prairie and worked at Maxfield's Sheet Metal in Temple for 38 years and worked at the VA Hospital for 8 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Temple.
Survivors include his wife Billie Pietzsch of Temple; two sons Leonard Pietzsch and Mark Pietzsch both of Temple; one daughter Kay Hixson of Falls Church, Virginia; two brothers Wilbert Pietzsch and Jerome Pietzsch both of Hamilton; one sister Mildred Wagner of Fort Worth and one grandson Patrick Hixson of Falls Church, Virginia.
Pallbearers were Wayne Pietzsch, Robert Wagner, Paul Wagner, Jerry Gonzalez, Patrick Hixson and Phillip Snider.

Marvin E. Lee
Marvin E. Lee, 71, of Comanche died Oct. 26, 2007 at the Western Hills Nursing Home in Comanche. Funeral services were held Oct. 29 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with Ronnie Calcoate and Harold Higginbotham officiating. Burial followed in the Newburg Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 25, 1936 in Gorman, the son of Herbert Allen and Ollie Couch Lee. He graduated from high school in 1954 where he had been very active in sports. He was an all state guard his senior year and also played baseball for several years. He traveled on the show circuit and showed cattle for several years and was active in the Texas State Shorthorn Association. Following graduation, he ranched most of his life.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Comanche and a formerly longtime member of the South Leon Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Joe Lee and William Lee.
Survivors include Evelyn Lee of Comanche; two daughters, JoAnn Hohertz and husband Wayland of Comanche, Melinda Fishback and husband Lyndell of Comanche; four grandchildren, Thomas Hohertz, Blake Denning, Cordell Fishback and Ayden Fishback; a brother, Henry Lee and wife Martha of Waxahachie; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Lee and Tommie Lee.
Memorials are requested to be made to the Newburg Cemetery Association or to Comanche Community Hospice.

Robert Len Martin
Robert Len Martin, 52, of Proctor, died Oct. 26, 2007 in a Stephenville hospital.
He was born May 2, 1955 in Hico, the son of Robert and Mavis Martin. Mr. Martin worked for several years as a jailer at the Comanche County Sheriffs Department.
Mr. Martin was an avid outdoorsman. He had a deep love for nature. He always had a smile and thrived on making others laugh. He will be deeply missed by all that loved and knew him.
Survivors include his spouse, Lupe Moreno; his parents, Robert and Mavis Martin; two daughters, Marisa and Amy Martin; two brothers, Bret Martin and Terry Martin; a sister, Shannon Martin and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Imogene Pennington Driskill
Imogene Pennington Dris-kill, 87, died Oct. 24, 2007 in the Forrest Oaks Nursing Home in Hamilton. Funeral services were held Oct. 27 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Pete Jordan officiating. Burial followed in the Parker Cemetery in Grapevine.
She was born Sept. 15, 1920 in Birdville, the daughter of Leroy and Bessie Ann Wells Pennington.
She was married in 1936 at age 16 to Hugh Earl Driskill. She was a cook and worked very hard later in her life after her husband passed. It was her routine for many years to work 12 hour days, seven days a week at her job.
Mrs. Driskill was a member of the Park Heights Church of Christ. She loved her family and loved visiting and comforting people. She always had a smile and a kind word for anyone she met. She was a very independent person. She would always say “The Lord helps those that help themselves.”
Survivors include three children, Bobby Earl Driskill, Betty Allen, Billy Hugh Driskill; five grandchildren; 10 great-grand-children, and one great-great granddaughter.
