Cora Hannemann Dittmar
Cora Thirza Esther Hannemann Dittmar died August 21, 2007 in Hamilton. Funeral services were held August 23 in the Trinity Lutheran Church with Peter K. Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Pottsville.
She was born Feb. 25, 1921 in Cave Creek, Gillespie County, the daughter of Fred and Caecilia Hannemann. She was baptized on March 27, 1921 in St. Paul Lutheran Church by Pastor Flachmeier.
She moved with her family to Fredericksburg at the age of four and attended Fredericksburg Public School. On April 14, 1935 she was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended Durham Business College in Austin and worked in the ASC office and insurance office before she was married.
She was married to Hilmar Carl Dittmar on Oct. 14, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg. The couple lived in Comfort, San Marcos, Thrall, Elgin and Lometa before moving to Pottsville where they bought a farm and ranch and made their home from 1965 through 1997. They then moved to Hamilton.
She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker as well as an active volunteer, helping in all school and community events. She was recognized as Outstanding 4-H Leader for her 20-plus years of work with the club. She was a member of the Pottsville Extension Education Clubs as well as Trinity Lutheran Women’s Bible Class.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Peggy Graydon and husband David of Lebanon, Mo., Shirley Gerald and husband Bubba of Hamilton; son, Huntis Dittmar and wife Stephanie of Austin; seven grandchildren, Carla Graydon, Michael Graydon, Gregory Graydon, D’Layne Brown and husband Sean, Colter Gerald, Eric Dittmar and Andrew Dittmar as well as five surviving brothers, Hans, Waldemar, Eugene, August and Fred Hannemann.
Memorials may be made to Hamilton Salvation Army, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
Pallbearers were her three grandsons Michael Graydon, Greg Graydon, and Colter Gerald, and three nephews Paul Hannemann, Ted Hannemann, and John Harold Dittmar.
