- Mr. Eubank

James L. Eubank died Jan. 28, 2007 in the Hamilton Healthcare Center. Funeral Services were held Feb. 1 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wendell Parr officiating. Burial followed in the Pottsville Public Cemetery. Mr. Eubank was born Nov. 19, 1925 in Red Oak, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Lee and Vera Maurine Berrier Eubank. He was married to Margie Hindman on Jan. 24, 1975 in Dublin. He worked as a Lathe Operator for Martin Gear and Sprocket for many years before his retirement.
Mr. Eubank served his Country in the United States Army and was a Baptist.
Survivors include: His wife, Margie Eubank of Hamilton; four sons, Jimmy Eubank and John Green, both of Hamilton, Bill Eubank of Oregon and Ray Green of Dripping Springs; two daughters, Linda Culver of Oregon and Jo Anne Green of Cincinnati Ohio; a sister, Linda Parr of Colorado Springs Colorado; a brother, Jerry Eubank of Streetman,11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Matthews

Ersel Hilliard Matthews, a long time resident of Corpus Christi, died Jan. 26, 2007. A graveside service was held on Jan. 29 at Floydada Cemetery in Floydada.
He was born July 23, 1914, in Palo Pinto county, Texas. His parents are Asberry (A.H.) and Hattie Boggus Matthews. When he was six years old, the family moved to Floyd County where he attended school. He graduated from Texas Tech in 1940 with a major in textile engineering. He was married to Mary Emma Collins in 1941 and they had three children. Kent (Lafayette, Indiana) and the twins, Carol (San Antonio, Texas) and Keith (Portland, Texas).
Mr. Matthews worked for the United States Department of Agriculture from 1941 to 1980, except for his years with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was transferred to Corpus Christi in 1949 and opened the cotton classing office there. He was transferred to Altus, Okla. in 1956. He came back to Corpus Christi in 1960 and retired as chairman of the cotton classing office in 1980 and continued as a resident of Corpus Christi until his death.
Known as an avid fisherman during his work years his interests turned to family and old friends after his wife died November, 1980. Through his visits and phone calls, he kept his wide-spread family in touch with each other. He also was generous with various charities and churches. He was a member of the Masonic Order for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Wilbert, A.H. Jr., Joe and Bill.
Survivors include two sons, Kent Matthews of Lafayette, Ind. and Keith Matthews of Portland; daughter, Carol Denman of San Antonio; granddaughter, Marilyn Denman of San Antonio, two grandsons, Christopher Matthews of Fort Worth and Clay Matthews of Waco; two sisters, VaRue Little of Hamilton and Jean Gautier of Temple.

Mr. Banda

Martin Banda, 51, of Hamilton, died Feb. 10 at Hamilton General Hospital. Funeral services were held Feb. 13 at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Father McNamara officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche. Rosary was held Monday at Comanche Funeral Home.
Mr. Banda was born July 29, 1955 in Crosbytown, the son of Leon and Francisca (Amaro) Banda. He was a steel worker at C&F Steel Company in Hamilton.
Survivors include his parents of Hamilton; his special friend, Wanda Pounders of Hamilton; daughters, Monica Banda, Brittany Banda, and Adreana Banda, all of Abilene, Pricella Banda of Hamilton and Melissa Ramirez of Georgia; son, Carlos Ramirez of Hamilton; brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Michelle Banda, brother and sister-in-law, David and Vicki Banda, all of Hamilton; brother, Jose Banda of Livingston; sister, Lydia Banda of Hamilton; sister and brother-in-law, Yolonda and Tony Rios of Fort Worth; sister and brother-in-law, Amelia and Vincente Romero of Hamilton and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Mrs. Johnson

Ina Lorene Swenson Johnson, 93, of Cranfills Gap died Feb. 9, 2007 at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home where she had resided since 1994. Funeral services were held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap on Feb. 11 with Pastor Terry Atkins officiating. Burial was at the Rock Church Cemetery.
She was born to Neil and Annie Swenson on Jan. 23, 1914 at Cranfills Gap.
Mrs. Johnson was baptized at the Rock Church and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran, the new church in town.
She graduated from Cranfills Gap High School in 1932 and from Clifton Junior College in 1936. She was married to E.D. “Si” Johnson on April 18, 1937 at St. Olaf. To this union were born Marc, Carla Sue, and Marilyn Kay.
Ina’s main interests and concerns were her family, church, sewing, gardening, and helping others. She worked at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home in the 1960’s as a nurse’s aide
Preceding her in death was daughter, Carla Sue; husband Si; grandsons, Marcus Wayne and Jeffrey Don Johnson; three brothers, Lloyd, Carl, and Bennie.
Survivors include her son, Marc and wife Betty of Cranfills Gap; daughter, Marilyn Kay Barnes, and husband Don, of Robinson; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as several neices and nephews.
Pallbearers were Bobbie Neil Swenson, Kenneth Reierson, Tommy Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Paul Forbes, and Kay Forbes.

Mrs. Easterling

Sara Jane Easterling, 79, of Hamilton, died Jan. 29, 2007 in Hamilton. Funeral services were held Jan. in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Ballard officiating. Burial followed in the Live Oak Cemetery.
Mrs. Easterling was born Jan. 24, 1928 in Hamilton the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Dale Riley and Elsie Marie Arnett.
She was married to Hercel Easterling in Hamilton on Nov. 8, 1947. She worked as an LVN for many years and was a member of the Hamilton First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Easterling and his wife Meg of Bulverde; a daughter, Jo Ann Clements and her partner Dawn Coffman of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren; six great-grand-children
