Free nutrition and disease prevention lecture
Dr. Jan Roberto, MD, will present a lecture on the power of nutrition and disease prevention on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Lee Health Care Conference room, 114 E. Main St. in Hamilton. She will explain to the audience how to lower the risk of heart disease and degenerative illness. Dr. Roberto has been practicing full time Family Medicine along with her husband and three other physicians in Springfield, Ohio for the past 16 years. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is on staff at two community hospitals she completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati and received her doctor of medicine from the Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. Masons meeting
Members of Rockhouse Lodge #417 will meet Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments followed by a stated meeting at 7:30. All members are encouraged to attend. Visitors are welcomed.
HHP to meet
The Hico Historic Preservation Association will meet on Jan 8 at 7 p.m. at the Hico Community Center. The evening’s program will consist of a report of 2006 in review and two readings of true life stories from Texas history. Refreshments will be provided by the Hospitality Committee. Guests are welcome.
Chess club
Chess club will begin again on Jan. 18 in the junior high library from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Organizers invite parents, high school students and community members to attend and help students learn to play chess. It is not necessary to be an expert chess player in order to help with the logistics of numerous students learning at the same time. The game can help students with critical thinking and reasoning skills needed for reading, math and science as well as other areas of life. GED classes in Hamilton
The GED classes in Hamilton have been canceled until further notice. Anyone interested in the class should call Gatesville ISD.
Band Booster meeting
There will be a band booster next Monday, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. in the band hall.
Youth Fair home economics entries
All Hamilton County Youth Fair clothing, crafts and art (photography) entries must be checked in at the Jason Harris Pavilion between 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3. Foods entries will be checked in on Thursday, Jan. 4 between 3:30-4:30 p.m. Clover Kids can enter one craft and one foods entry on Friday, Jan. 5 between 8-9 a.m. Clover kids do not need to pre-enter or pay entry fees.
