Bill A. Ashby, 58, of Drip-ping Springs, formerly of Dal-las, died July 2 in Coryell County. Memorial services will be held July 12 at the Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Miles Miears officiating. Survivors include his par-ents, Seaborn and Hermione Ashby of Gatesville; brothers, Seaborn K. Ashby and wife Sandra of Jonesboro, Jim F. Gatesville Funeral Home David Butler David Butler, 64, of Arling-ton, died July 5, 2008 at his home. Funeral services were held July 8 at Stacy-Wilkins Chapel with Pastor John Foster officiating. Burial was at Pecan Wells Cemetery. Mr. Butler was born Oct. 2, 1943 in Stephenville, the son of Frank and Cletis Butler. He was married to Joann Green on Nov. 5, 1966 at the Shive Lu-theran Church. The couple lived all of their married life in Arlington He was a Lutheran and a cabinet builder who became a master craftsman. He loved to hunt, fish and take care of the cattle on the home place, called “Green Acres.” He was known by many for his creative talents. He loved his family and friends and was respected by those who knew him. Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Floyd and Florina Green. Survivors include his wife of Arlington; three children, Lori Basye and husband Kevin of Itasca, Tracy Butler and wife Cassandra of Granbury and Mark Butler of Fort Worth; three grandchildren, Sara Basye, Hunter Basye and Far-rah Butler; a brother, Carrol Butler and wife Diana of Waxahachie and two sisters, Melba Barham and husband Leslie of Avalon and Debbie Elizalda of Dublin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pecan Wells Cemetery or the Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church in Ar-lington. Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Jerry Alton Cozby Jerry Alton Cozby, age 70, of Horseshoe Bay, died on June 29, 2008. Graveside services were held July 2 at the Oak-wood Cemetery in Hamilton with Rodney McGee officiat-ing. He was born in Hamilton on Nov. 29, 1937 the son of Alton (Pete) Anderson and Reba Cozby. He moved to Burnet in 1972 and bought Galloway Insurance. Mr. Cozby enjoyed hunting, traveling, horse racing, golfing, and family. Some of his accomplish-ments throughout his lifetime included: since 1961 he was a Master Mason with the Ma-sonic Lodge since 1960, 1967 Golden Rule Award and chair-man Copperas Cove United Fund Inc., 1968 Coryell County Director of the American Na-tional Red Cross, 1972 Cop-peras Cove School Board Member, 1972 Member and president Copperas Cove Jay-cee’s, 1972 owner/president of Galloway Insurance Company retired in 1999, 1973 member National Home Builders Asso-ciation, 1975 Certificate of Ser-vice Appreciation from Cham-ber of Commerce, 1977 Presi-dent Burnet Chamber of Com-merce, 1977 Burnet Rotary Club President, 1977 Board Member of Copperas Cove Industrial Foundation, 1980 Member/President Burnet Bull-dogs Sports Association Booster Club, 1985 Certificate of Recognition From National Republican Congressional Committee, board member for United States Selective Service Association Copperas Cove, 1993 Business Man of the year State of Texas, lifetime mem-ber of American Quarter Horse Association, board member of Burnet Industrial Foundation, real estate broker since 1964. Had his pilot’s license since 1980, owner of a hunting fish-ing lodge in Iliamna, Alaska from 1983 to 1987. Survivors include his wife Janie Cozby; father Pete Cozby of Hamilton; two sons and daughter-in-laws Louis and Karen Cozby, W.T. and Jenny Cozby both of Burnet; two brothers and sister-in-laws Travis and Lola Cozby of Bur-net and Danny and Judy Cozby of Alvarado; grandchildren Katie, Kelsie, Lindsey, Kylie and Weston and great-grand-child Marcus “Bubba” and sev-eral nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Reba Cozby. Pallbearers were Dr. Al Bishop, Curtis Logan, Quint Riley, Bill Wilcox, John Hoo-ver, Dick Schieffer, Walter Schwartz and Gerald Cum-mings. Memorials may be made to Hill Country Fellowship Build-ing Fund. Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home William Robert Duff William Robert Duff, 78, of Marlin, died on July 6, 2008. A memorial service, celebrating his life, was held on July 9, 2008 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Thomas Q. Robbins officiating. Mr. Duff was born Sept. 21, 1929 in Shreveport, LA, the son of Hasell and Oscar Duff, but grew up in Palestine where he graduated high school. He was a proud member of the United State Navy, and following completion of service for the United States of Amer-ica; he earned a business degree in 1952 from Southwestern University in Georgetown. While at Southwestern, he joined Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and met a Tri-Delta named Marilyn Hancock. For 55 years, she was, and is, the love of his life. Following college, he put his business degree to work as a furniture representative for William-Volker. Later, he opened a retail furniture store in Hamilton that was in busi-ness for 25 years. While living in Hamilton, he made many life long and wonderful friends. Mr. Duff was also a Master Mason at one of the oldest Lodges in the state, the Hamil-ton Masonic Lodge #31. He and his wife were very blessed to have three beautiful children, Randolph M. Duff, Robert S. Duff and wife, Nelda, and Diane D. Hunt and husband Shawn. They also have grand-children Caleb Duff (who gave him his "Papoo" name), Dustin Duff, Jessica Duff, Scott Duff, Duff Hunt, Daxon Hunt and Dane Hunt, Ethan and Erin Duff made sure his quiver was full by being his great-grandchildren. Jonathan M. Hansen Jonathan M. Hansen, 61, a former long-time resident of Hamilton, died suddenly in Abilene on June 27, 2008. Fu-neral services were held July 3 in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian with Rev. Terry Atkins and Jim Bayless officiating. Burial was in the St. Olaf Lutheran (Rock Church) Cemetery near Cranfills Gap. Mr. Hansen was born June 15, 1947, in Odessa, the son of Dorothy Brock and Chris M. Hansen. He was a graduate of Texas Tech in Lubbock where he earned his bachelors degree in 1969. He worked as an audi-tor in the insurance profession and was a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cran-fills Gap. Survivors include his mother; a sister, Jeanne Bayless and husband Jim Bayless; a nephew, James Bayless of Abi-lene; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. Pallbearers were Bellamy Bertleson, Gwyn Christensen, James Bayless, Jim Pack, Brian Davis and Ernie Reinke. Lawson Funeral Home Dr. Thomas Reed Williams Dr. Thomas Reed Williams, 86, of Gatesville, died on July 2, 2008 in Gatesville. Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. July 7, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Gatesville with Rev. Larry VanZille offi-ciating. Graveside services were at St. Olaf Rock Church Cemetery in Cranfills Gap. Dr. Williams was born on October 21, 1921 in Pancake, the son of Otis Reed and Lettie Elizabeth Williams. In 1940, he graduated from Tarleton State College, and received his dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry. He served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946 and in 1953, was recalled to serve during the Korean con-flict. In 1944, he was married to Peggy Hoover, whom he had dated during high school and college. Dr. Williams began his den-tal practice in Gatesville in 1946 and retired in 1983. He also was a dentist for the Texas Department of Justice, retiring in 1986. He was one of the founders of Medical Plastics, now Laer-dal Medical, and several other local businesses including An-chor Industries, the original maker of the DeckBoat, Leon Plastics, and Camp Cotton-wood, a golf camp for kids. He was also one of the original developers of one of the city's first premier subdivision's Creek Cliff. Dr. Williams was one of the organizers of the Gatesville Country Club, and he was in-volved in the expansion of the golf course to 18 holes. He served on the country club board of directors and as presi-dent of the country club. He was also committed to education. He served as a Trus-tee on the Gatesville School Board for 10 years. Other community activities serving on the Gatesville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Chamber Mili-tary Affairs Committee, and the civilian advisory board for Fort Hood. In addition to serving his community, Tom served a statewide constitu-ency, which reflected positively on the town. He served as both president and vice-president of the Texas Dental Association, and served for many years on the state Board of Dental Examiners. Dr. Williams received many awards including Baylor Col-lege of Dentistry's Distin-guished Alumni Award in 1986, the TDA President's Award in 1990, and an ADA Presidential Citation in 1994. Other endeavors include serving as the chairman of the building committee for the First United Methodist Church and also served as the church treas-ure and chairman of the church's board of trustees. He was a long time member of the Gatesville Masonic Lodge 197 and a member of the Lion's Club. Dr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Peggy Hoover Wil-liams of Gatesville; son, Reed Williams and wife Joan of San Antonio; daughter, Anita Ma-berry and husband Bob of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Eric Maberry, Carter Williams, Elizabeth Maberry Smith and Kate Williams Lathrop and one great-granddaughter Sophia Lathrop. Scott’s Funeral Home Georgia Marie Robinson Georgia Marie Robinson, 82, died June 19, 2008 at the Hamilton Healthcare Center following an extended illness. Funeral services were held June 22 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin An-drews officiating. Burial fol-lowed in Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Robinson was born Oct. 12, 1925 in Pottsville, the daughter of Elmer Dee Hurley and wife Ella Spivey Hurley. She graduated from high school in Pottsville. On Oct. 18, 1941 she entered into a 65 year mar-riage to Rex Byron Robinson, who preceded her in death on March 1, 2006. The couple raised three chil-dren, Rex Dee Robinson, Mar-tha Larine Guest and Jerry Lee Robinson. She is survived by four grandchildren, Austin Guest, Corbett Guest, Jerrod Robinson and Adam Robinson as well as four great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Beckham, Elijah and Fenni-more Guest. Besides her husband, Mrs. Robinson was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arlie, who died in 1972. From the early 1940s to the late 1950s she cared for her children as a full-time mother while living in Dallas. In 1959 she and her husband moved their family to Hamilton County. The move to Hamilton opened an important door in Mrs. Robinson’s life as she embarked on what really be-came her life’s work; a 40-year mission of enthusiastically car-ing for the elderly of Hamilton County as she went to work for her parents at the Hurley Nurs-ing Home. In 1974, her husband joined her in service to the elderly as joint owners and operators of Hamilton Nursing Home. After selling the business in 1988, Mrs. Robinson continued to work in the nursing home field as administrator to other nurs-ing homes in the Hamilton area. She retired in 1999 after suf-fering a debilitating automobile accident, which occurred in 1995. Pallbearers were grandsons, Austin Guest, Corbett Guest, Jerrod Robinson and Adam Robinson. Also serving as pall-bearers were close friends, Joe Haynes and Dale Gardner. Honorary pallbearers were close friends, Zella New, Chris-tina Leach, Nadine Brooks, Verner Gromatzky, Foster Wil-cox and Stan Thomashide.
