Mrs. Foster
Marie “Bloodworth” Foster, 89, died Nov. 9, 2006 at Round Rock. Funeral services were held Nov. 11 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Felton officiating. Burial followed in the Shive Cemetery.
Mrs. Foster was born July 5, 1917 at Hamilton, the daughter of Tom D. Bloodworth and Trula “Boyd” Bloodworth.
She was a devoted wife and mother. She served as a License Vocational Nurse helping others that could not help themselves.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her step father, William Wylie Jones; husband, J.C. Foster; two sons; Charles Douglas Miller and Charles Eugene Miller and a grandson Michael Clay Foster.
Survivors include her four children, Marian Miller Brooks, John Clayborn Foster, Tommy Don Foster and Jimmy Rex Foster; two step-daughters, Johnette Bell and Dixie Bounds and her husband Turett; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jay Foster, Neal Sheppard, Kevin Brooks, Chad Foster, Rod Campbell, and Alex Jesko.

Mr. Fulton
Edwin Frederich Fulton died
Nov. 9, 2006. Funeral services were held Nov. 11 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
He was born on June 11, 1919, the son of Frederich and Ida (Meissner) Fulton of Aleman. The Fulton family were faithful members of St. Paul Lutheran, and when Edwin was only twenty-six days old he was baptized by Pastor Moerbe.
Mr. Fulton was a student at the Aleman school for five years and then at the church’s parochial school for two years. When he was thirteen years old, Edwin made his bold confession of faith before Pastor Moerbe, who confirmed him on April 9, 1933. He was given the confirmation verse: “Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace” Psalm 37:37.
On November 1, 1943, Mr. Fulton was married to Leona Leitko. For the first four years of their marriage they lived and worked in the Aleman community and then as opportunities for work opened up in the bigger cities, Mr. Fulton saw a greater opportunity for his family. The couple moved to Benbrook, in 1947 where Mr. Fulton worked as a carpenter, and they remained there until moving to Pottsville in 1960 where he farmed and ranched until moving back to his home place in Aleman in 1979.
He continued to farm and ranch until the year 2000 when he sold his cattle and retired, although he never retired of his love of farming.
Mr. Fulton worked in the garden and he provided wonderful vegetables for his family over the past few years.
Mr. Fulton was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Elvira Needham; and two grandchildren; Gary Wayne Schoen, Jr. and Laurie Gayle Schoen.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Louise (Leitko) Fulton of Hamilton; two children, Charles (Butch) Fulton and wife, Linda, of Stephenville and Wyvonne (Tootie) Schoen and husband, Gary, of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Misti White and husband, Jeremy; Michael Fulton, Cynthia McElroy and husband, Ross and Melinda Lang and husband Todd; three great-grand-children, Jenna White, Hudson White, and Jaxon Lang.
Pallbearers were Jeremy White, Capt. Michael Fulton, Johnny Leitko, Jim Patton, Ross McElroy and Jiggs Biegert.
Honorary pallbearers were Leeman Tischler, Alan Schrank and Walter Feldman, Jr.

Mrs. MacKenzie
Hazel MacKenzie, 99, of Massachusetts, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away gently in her sleep at Forrest Ridge Nursing Home in Hamilton on Nov. 8, 2006. A memorial Service was held Saturday Nov. 11, 2006 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Ballard officiating.
Mrs. MacKenzie was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John C. MacKenzie in 1987.
Survivors include her son, John B. MacKenzie and wife Mary of Tewskbury, Mass. and a daughter, Christine English and husband Thomas English of Hamilton; four granddaughters, and three grandsons: Karen MacKenzie of Tewskbury, Mass.; Jenette Shapleigh of Billerica, Mass; June Mattiza of Encinitas, CA. and Janet Reid of Sneads Ferry, NC.; Jon English of Hamilton, Scott MacKenzie of Marlborough, Mass. and eight great-granddaughters.

Colton Osmun
Colton Levi Osmun, newborn son of Randy and Gerri (Adams) Osmun was born Wednesday, Nov. 1 at the Hillsdale Community Health Center. He died later the same day. Funeral services were held Nov. 6 at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Don Lee officiating. Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Ransom Township.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Barry Osmun and his great-grandparents, Claude and Myrna Adams and Ben and Gerry Cavett.
Survivors include his parents; siblings, Koree, Kodee, Alexis and Michael; grandparents, Walter and Lucretia Adams of Litchfield, Dennis and Angela Camp of Hillsdale, Judy and Jack Calhoun of Hamilton and Debra Osmun of Harrison as well as great-grandparents, Donna and Gilbert Shafer of Harrison.

Willie Catherine “Flippen” Ray, 92, died at Temple Thursday Nov. 9, 2006. Funeral services were held Nov. 12 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Murphree Cemetery.
Mrs. Ray was born June 18, 1914 in the Fairview Community of Hamilton County, the daughter of the late Emmett and Agnes Baker Flippen.
She was married to William (Bud) Ray on July 11, 1936. She was a devoted wife and mother and a helpmate to her husband in operating the Ray Ranch as she continued to do after the death of her husband.
She was a seamstress retiring from Wall’s Manufacturing. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Betty Jean Ray; a sister, Norma Kennard; three brothers, Deward “Dooley” Flippen, James Flippen, and Charles Flippen.
Survivors include her three sisters, Ima Hughes of Hamilton, Von Dean Wolf of Evant and Jessie Kinsey of Hamilton.
Pallbearers were Ray Solis, Bruce Craig, Jim Landry, Owen Burton, Lonnie Flippen, Jimmy Flippen, John Flippen, Jason Flippen, Calvin Burks and Jerald Poe.

Mr. Schrank
Fred “Leon” Schrank died in College Station, on Nov. 9, 2006. Funeral services were held Nov. 12 in College Station. Burial was Nov. 13 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Aleman.
Mr. Schrank was born July 10, 1938 in Sweetwater, the son of Ira August and Amanda Marie Melde Schrank. At an early age he moved with his parents to Aleman where his extended relatives lived. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School, graduating in 1952.
He was confirmed in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on May 11, 1952 and graduated from Aleman High School in 1956.
Mr. Schrank joined the Texas Army National Guard in 1955. He attended John Tarleton College from 1956, later transferring to Texas A&M College and graduating in 1961.
In August 1961 Mr. Schrank was married to Georgia Ann Kemp. He was called into service in the Texas National Guard and served one year at Ft. Polk, Louisiana. He then taught school in Sweetwater High School for about seven months and in March 1962 he went to work for the USDA(ASCS) in Gaines County, Seminole, Texas, moving on to Stephens and Young Counties and finally spending his last 28 years of service in Williamson County, Georgetown.
The Williamson County ASCS earned numerous awards and citations including being selected as the most effective and efficient office in the nation. The entire staff was awarded this honor in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Schrank was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Kevin Schrank.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Ann of College Station; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Pam Schrank of McKinney, Dr. David and Stacey Schrank of College Station; three grandchildren, Casey Schrank of McKinney, Cannon and Keaton Schrank of College Station; two brothers, Alan Schrank and Marvin Schrank of Hamilton; one niece, Karen Schwartz of Ft. Worth; one nephew, Brian Schrank of Hamilton; father-in-law, Floyd Kemp of Hamilton.

Opal Wilhelmine Schwartz, 88, of Temple, died Nov. 12, 2006 at her residence. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will be at 3 p.m., Thursday in the Priddy Cemetery.
Mrs. Schwartz was born March 4, 1918 in Mills County, the daughter of Willy Louis and Wilhelmine (Becker) Steinmann.
She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a member of the Temple congregation.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Henry Schwartz; two brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie DeLeon, of Heidenheimer; a grandson, Michael DeLeon; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Dora Mae Lippe, of Marble Falls; sister, Dorothy Caudle, of Texarkana; Rosa Lee Hull, of Marble Falls; Marie Gummelt, of Odessa; Mary Hannah Seider, of Horseshoe Bay and a brother, Benjamin Steinmann, of Clovis, NM.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006 from 9-11 a.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home.

Mr. Viertel
Adolph Julius Viertel died peacefully on Nov. 5, 2006 in the Sunset Home with family and Hospice Care near by. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap on Nov. 18
Mr. Viertel was born on Dec. 6, 1909 at the Viertel home place, the son of Martha Schultz and Otto Viertel
Mr. Viertel lived almost his entire life on the Viertel mountain outside of Cranfills Gap and Hamilton. He was baptized in November 1910 in Clifton and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap May 1926. He attended school at Anglin and Mountainview.
He was to married Lucy Carpenter Bagley on Dec. 12, 1950, and they enjoyed life together for 23 years until Lucy’s death on May 19, 1973. Upon his marriage to Lucy, he inherited three daughters, Marguerite, Frances, Billye, and an entire family that grew to be over 40 in number.
Mr. Viertel loved to watch Cowboy football and tell a good joke. He was known for his knowledge of raising Angora goats, his honesty, and his hard-working ethics. He followed in his father’s footsteps and continued farming, raising goats and cattle, and working the land on the family farm until the age of 95.
In July, 2005, he moved to the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton where he quickly became known by all the nurses and staff and was a favorite of everyone. His wit and charm were enjoyed by many.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy; his parents, Martha and Otto; his brother, Paul, and sister, Alma; daughters, Marguerite Shelton and Frances Anz; son-in-law, W.J. Shelton and two great-grandchilden, Melvin Wade Farris and Jack William Shelton.
Survivors include his brother, Bruno Viertel; a daughter, Billye Dunnahoe; son-in-laws, Melvin Anz and Owen Ringness; 12 grandchildren, Jack Shelton, Margaret and husband Bill Fuller, Janette and husband John Robert Rierson, Patricia Mount, Teresa Tice-Boggs and friend Scott Huston, Ronnie Ringness, Rhonda and husband Dennis Greene, Paula Smith; 17 great-grandchildren, Julie, Jeremy and Jamie Shelton; Lucy and husband Ray Cross, John Shearer, Debbie and husband Rick Markel, Dana and husband Jack Colborn, Shelby and husband Robert Harvey, Christopher and wife Rachael Tice, Jeff Tice, Katy Boggs, Ryan Smith; and eight great-great grandchildren, Tyler, Beau, Ashley, Heather, Candace, Caitlin, Nathaniel, and Ian; nephew, Howard Knudson; special extended family; Robert and Jason Meissner, Kim and husband T.J. Foy, Diane and husband Wayne Sula; and his best friend, Martin Geissler and wife Aline.

Mr. Word
Edwin Walter Word Jr., 84, of North Richland Hills died Nov. 9 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held Nov. 13 at Northwood Church with burial at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
Mr. Word was born April 13, 1922 in Higgins. He was a senior at West Texas State University in Canyon when he joined the Marine Corps in 1942. He soon transferred to the U.S. Naval Aviation Cadet Program. At the university he was a member of the football team, Alpha Sigma Chi fraternity and Buffalo “T” Club, he also served on the student senate.
He was married to Avanelle Hill of Perryton on Dec. 29, 1943.
He served as a U.S. Navy Air Corps pilot on Attu and Shemya in the Aleutian Islands during World War II, fling anti-submarine patrols. He went on to the Philippines where he flew a PB4Y (Privateer), a four-engine patrol bomber and eventually flew runs into the eye of hurricanes. After his honorable discharge in 1946 he operated a GI flying school in Hamilton where he taught more than 80 students to fly.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Survivors include his son, Randall L. Word and wife Dana of North Richland Hills; daughter, Gaynelle Hopton-Jones and husband Rick of Dallas; daughter Lynette Patterson and husband Brad of Keller; grandson, Christopher R. Word and wife Brandy of Mansfield; granddaughter, Kelly N. Word of North Richland Hills; sister, Ora Sue Young of Nashville, Tenn. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
