Mr. Hopper
Lee Roy Hopper Sr. 82 of Indian Gap passed away Tuesday Dec. 19 at Temple. Funeral services were held Dec. 22 at Trinity Lutheran Church at Pottsville with burial following in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with Pastor Peter K. Anderson officiating,
Mr. Hopper was born Feb. 21, 1924 at Priddy, the son of Albert Kinsey Hopper and Martha Tischler Hopper.
He was baptized April 6, 1924 in Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Johns Kirch at Priddy by Rev. Rudolph Becker and confirmed May 22, 1938 in Zion’s Lutheran Church at Priddy by Pastor A.F. Kluge.
He grew up in the farming community of Priddy and at the age of 20 he entered the Army at Camp Wolters, Texas. He was soon sent to Kansas where he was trained to work with mules and then he was sent to Burma where the terrain was so rough that mules were the only way to transport supplies into much of the area.
Mr. Hopper took part in the China Offensive, Central Burma, and India Burma earning the Asiatic Pacifica Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and two Overseas Services Bars. Lee was discharge from the Army on February 3, 1946 at Fort Sam Houston.
Upon returning home, on April 27, 1946 he was married to Edna Emma Marwitz at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville by Pastor E.H. Kulhmann.
Mr. Hopper was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved farming and driving his tractors. He and his wife and family farmed, ranched and operated a seed and fertilizer business in the Indian Gap area most of his life.
Survivors include his wife of Indian Gap; four children and their spouses David and Kay Hopper of Indian Gap, Steve and Sherry Hopper of Dallas, Bonnye and Martin Wenzel of Hamilton and Mark Hopper of Indian Gap; seventeen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one sister Annie Fowler of Waco.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lee Roy Hopper Jr.; two grandchildren, Stephen Hopper II and Matthew Hopper; one great-granddaughter, Dakota Hopper; two sisters and five brothers.
Pallbearers were Jason Hopper, Dustin Hopper, Ryan Hopper, Montana Mize, Maranda Mize, Isaac Wenzel, Lance Hopper, Jennifer Hodges and Lanham Hodges.
Military honors were provided by the Fort Hood Honor Guard.

Mrs. Rutherford
Katy Mae Rutherford, 91, of Hamilton died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006. Graveside funeral services were held Dec. 18 in Evergreen Cemetery.
She was born July 16, 1915 in Hamilton the daughter of Lemuel Lee Evans and Althea Bunnell Evans one of seven children.
She was married to Howard Guthrie at Hamilton on Dec. 24, 1939. He precedes her in death.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grand-mother.
She worked many years as a beautician in Hamilton. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Baptist Church.
Survivors include her two sons, Lem Guthrie and Elmo Guthrie; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
