Dana Elise Daniel, 48, of Lamkin, died Monday, May 12, 2008, at Emory Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
Services were held on Saturday, May 17, at the First United Methodist Church of Comanche with Rev. Dale Cartwright officiating. Burial was in the Toliver Cemetery in Comanche County.
Mrs. Daniel was born April 13, 1960, in Tulia, Texas, the daughter of Billie John Reed and Mary Carolyn Lindsey. She was an emergency room nurse at Comanche County Medical Center and also worked as a nurse at Hamilton General Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, David Daniel of Lamkin; two daughters, Carolyn Daniel of Grand Prairie and Deidre Daniel of Lamkin; her mother, Carolyn Reed of Kress; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Stephanie Reed of Kress; sister, Denise Reed; brother and sister-in-law, Blayne and Brandy Reed of Kress; grandmother, Mozelle Lindsey of Plainview; one niece and one nephew.

Hattie Goerdel, 91, of Priddy, died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Hamilton General Hospital.
Services were held on Wednesday, April 23, at Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy. Burial was in St. John Cemetery in Priddy.
Mrs. Goerdel was born June 12, 1917, in Priddy, the daughter of Charlie Noack and Louisa Navert. She was married to Albert Goerdel on Oct. 18, 1934, in Priddy. She had lived in Priddy all her life and was a member of Zion Lutheran church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Cherline and Alton Drueckhammer of Priddy and Laverne and Carl Bubert of Hamilton; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Julia Ising.
Pallbearers were family members Paul Carl Ising, David Drueckhammer, Dale Drueckhammer, Rodney Parish, David Noll, Jerry McDougal, Alvin Bubert and Michael Schrank.
Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters Donna Parrish, Kathrin Schrank, Sharon McDougal, Jewel Bubert, Linda Noll and Kari Drueckhammer.

Opal Belle Cole, 89, of Hico died May 14, 2008, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Services were held May 18 at Rutledge-Jones Funeral Home in Hico with Lawrence Mulloy officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Mrs. Cole was born May 8, 1919, in Hamilton County. She was a clerk at the soda fountain at Howard Drug Store in Hico for many years. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and Providence Piecemakers quilting club. She had lived in Hamilton County all her life.
She was married to Robert (Rob) Cole on July 11, 1936. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Annie Brewer; a brother, Wilbur Richard Brewer; and two sisters, Syble Loraine Golden and Lila Fay.
Survivors include a brother, Orval Dean Brewer of Snyder and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Randy Golden, Rob Golden, Cole Edmondson, Rusty Cryer, Randel Craig and Bruce Slaughter. Honorary pallbearers were members of Providence Piecemakers.

Lucille Freeman Harris Grubb
Lucille Freeman Harris Grubb, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 19, 2008, at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 20 at Purmela Baptist Church with burial following at Live Oak Cemetery in the Liberty-Ohio Community near Hamilton. The family will receive visitors at Scott’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 21 from 6-8 p.m.
Lucille was born on April 9, 1913 to Walter and Agnes Moore Freeman in Ireland, Texas. She was raised at Purmela where she attended school. After completing school she worked as a housekeeper prior to marrying Audley Harris on August 17, 1940 and settling in Purmela to be a lifelong homemaker and farmer.
She enjoyed outdoor activities, serving as a care giver and was an excellent seamstress, making many quilts for friends and family. Mr. Harris passed away on July 9, 1974. Lucille later married Fred Grubb on Feb. 14, 1984 and he passed away on Dec. 11, 1989.
She was preceded in death by husbands Audley Harris and Fred Grubb; her parents, Walter and Agnes Freeman; brothers, Homer Freeman and James Freeman; and sister, Vella Young.
She is survived by a sister, Ellen Byrom of Austin; sister-in-law, Ruby Freeman of Evant; step-son, Carl Grubb of Evant; step-daughter, Helen Cox of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial be made to either Live Oak Cemetery or Purmela Baptist Church.

Bettye Jean Parsley Queen
Bettye Jean Parsley Queen, 75, of Comanche died Friday, May 16, 2008, in the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston.
Services were held Monday, May 19, at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche.
Mrs. Queen was born March 25, 1933, in Fort Worth, the daughter of Hansford B. and Lydia Daniels Parsley. Follow-ing high school, she was married to Tom Queen in Mineral Wells on June 15, 1949. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, and had lived in Comanche since 1977.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, by her parents, and by two sons, Robert Douglas Queen in 1956 and Ronald W. Queen in 1994.
Survivors include a daugh-ter, Diana Koether and husband Scotty of Hamilton; two brothers, H.B. Parsley Jr. of Houston and Alvin Parsley of Blum; a sister, Billy Erickson of Handley; her special companion, Billy Pat McKinney of Comanche; three grandchildren; one great-grand-child; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Asso-ciation or American Stroke Association.

Gladys L. Quillen Woods
Gladys L. Quillen Woods, 82, died May 6, 2008.
A memorial was at Rest Haven. A celebration of her life was held May 9 at Bacon Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock.
Mrs. Woods was born on Sept. 5, 1925, in Bryan, the daughter of Archie and Richard (Smith) Quillen.
She graduated from Bryan High School. While working in a defense plant, she met and married William T. Woods Sr. They married June 22, 1945. They moved to Amarillo where they started their family. In 1967 the Woods family transferred to Lubbock where they made their home. Gladys was a founding member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church. She was a wife, mother, Sunday School teacher, depart-ment store manager, grandma, great-grandma, friend, helper and a very special aunt.
Many knew her from Lena Stephens Department Store where she retired after 30 years to travel with her husband. They walked hand in hand for 53 years until his death in 1999.
She was preceded in death by a daughter in 1996, a granddaughter, her parents, three sisters and a brother.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail Faubion and husband Leonard of Hamilton; a son, William T. Woods Jr. of Lubbock; three grandchildren, James Pack of Whitt, Jason Pack and wife Nicole of Katter Bach, Germany, and Brandi Murray of Gatesville; five step-grandchildren of the Metroplex; 13 great-grandchildren; a bro-ther, Ray Quillen and wife Betty of Herford; a sister-in-law, Jean Quillen of Yakima, Wash.; a special friend, Merle Scott of Lubbock; and many nieces and nephews.

Tommy Powers died on Monday, May 19, 2008. Fun-eral services will be held in Arlington under the direction of Moore and Sons Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in Hamilton later this week.
