Four H.H.S. athletes
to compete at state

RECEPTION- Fans, friends, colleagues, students, football players and former players all attended a come-and-go reception to say goodbyes and honor Coach Chris Wilde. Wilde has resigned as athletic director and head football coach at Hamilton High School to accept a position as head football coach at 4A Saginaw near Fort Worth. He was presented with a watch and a plaque showing the front page of The Herald-New after the Bulldogs defeated the number one rated Mart Panthers last fall for a bi-district title. Above, are Wilde and wife, Amy, with children Grace and Chandler.

- Four Hamilton High School athletes will be competing in the state track meet in Austin this Friday and Saturday.
Amber Weems will be competing in two events and will also be the first Hamilton athlete to take the stage. She will run in the 3200-meters at 11 a.m. on Friday. Then on Saturday, she will run in the 1600-meters at 2:45 p.m. She won both events at the regional meet in Stephenville.
Chasey Senger will be the only other Hamilton competitor to compete on Friday. She will be in the 2A long jump at 1:30 p.m. She was second at region.
On Saturday, Doxie Thompson will be running in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. She won both at region. She will run the 100-hurdles at 12:45 p.m. and the 300-hurdles at 2:05 p.m.
James Ratliff will be in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles at 2:15 p.m. He also took top honors in this event at region.
CORRECTION
In last week’s report on the regional meet, we failed to note that Morgan Nolen competed for Hamilton in both the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Also, we had a wrong cut line on the bottom track photo on Page 2B. The picture of a handoff in the 800-meter relay should have been identified as Angel Banda handing the baton to Chasey Senger (Printed again below). The Lady Bulldogs finished fourth in the race. We apologize to the girls for the errors.
