Three Bulldogs advancing
to regional tennis tourney

VARSITY TENNIS CHAMPS – Hamilton’s varsity tennis team won top honors at the district meet on April 2 and 3 at the Waco Tennis Center. Three Hamilton High School tennis players will be advancing to the Regional Tennis Tournament in Stephenville April 21-26 after winning firsts at the district tournament at the Waco Tennis Center last Wednesday and Thursday.
Lauren Lanmon won the girls’ singles and Ethan Chorenziak and Jordan Ernstes took top honors in the boys’ doubles.
Lanmon swept the competition in dominating fashion. She won her first match against Ganadara from Moody 6-0, 6-1, then took Rodriguez from Bruceville-Eddy 6-0, 6-0 and then completed play downing Reeda from Moody 6-0, 6-1.
Chorenziak and Ernstes started play by defeated Tanner and Stanford from Crawford 6-0, 6-2. They then downed Jones and Pearson from Moody, 6-2, 8-6.
In the championship match, they defeated Thompson and Shaffer from McGregor 6-2, then lost 6-7, before winning the tie-breaker 7-0.
The Bulldogs also did well in the junior varsity division. Mellissa Pearce won first place in girls’ singles. She defeated Wood from Clifton 8-0, Guerrero from Crawford 8-4 and Kiker from Clifton 8-1.
Isaac Ernstes won third in the boys’ JV singles. He defeated Puls from Bruceville-Eddy 8-2, lost to Richards from Clifton 7-8 and defeated Ramirez from Clifton 8-5.
