Hamilton thinclads running strong

- The Bulldog varsity boys’ track team had another strong outing last week in the Bluebonnet Relays in Brown-wood, finishing second in Division II behind on Early. The Bulldogs scored 93 points, while Early had 102. There were 16 teams in the Division II field.
The Dogs could have expected to gain additional points in the long jump and triple jump, but did not compete because of a conflict with the baseball team schedule.
The Hamilton boys had won meets the two previous weeks in Hico and Goldthwaite.
The Bulldogs will be running in the District 21-2A meet in Moody on April 4 and 7.
Coach Sonny Galindo said, “We need all the fan support we can get at the district meet.”
The Dogs will have one final tune-up meet in preparation for district this Saturday, also in Moody. Field events will start at 9 a.m., followed by the running events.
In Brownwood, the Hamilton boys won the 800-meter relay and placed second in the 400-meter relay.
Jorden Lowe, Keaton Muxworthy, Garet Box and Asa Hamilton carried the baton in the 800-meters and finished in 1:31.95.
In the sprint relay, Lowe, Hamilton, Box and James Ratliff passed the baton. They finished in 43.96, right behind Early in 43.74.
Jaime Fry, Jordan Ernstes, Jordan Ratliff and Truman Baize placed sixth in the 1600-meter relay in 3:48.73.
Earning points in individual events for Hamilton were:
110-meter hurdles- 1st James Ratliff (14.83); 5th Jordan Ratliff (17.14), 6th Fry (17.24).
100-meter dash- 6th Box (11.43).
400-meter dash- 3rd Baize (55.52); 5th Ernstes (56.25).
300-meter hurdles- 1st James Ratliff (39.66); 4th Jordan Ratliff (42.44).
200-meter dash- 2nd Asa Hamilton (23.16); 4th Muxworthy (23.60).
High jump- 6th Fry (5’6”).
Shot put- 3rd Mason Burke (42’1”).
In the JV boys’ division, Tyler Ratliff picked up a point for Hamilton with a sixth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles in 20.35.
