Lady Bulldogs win Hico track meet

POWERLIFTERS- Five members of the Bulldog Powerlifting Team placed in the Regional Powerlifting Meet held in Gatesville last Saturday. Ethan Brown qualified to compete in the state meet on Saturday, March 29, winning the second place medal in the 220-pound division. He also received the Outstanding Lifter Award for the squat lift. Garet Box and Garrett Brooks also medaled at the regional meet with fourth place finishes. Box was in the 148s and Brooks in the 132s. - The Lady Bulldog varsity track team claimed top honors at the Hico Invitational Track Meet last Friday. The Hamilton girls earned 151 points, ahead of Hico with 136, Tolar 74, Meridian 51, Clifton 38, Valley Mills 34, Keene 13, Goldthwaite 12, Whitney 10 and Blum eight.
The Hamilton girls placed first in both the 1600-meter relay (4:24.10) and 800-meter relay (1:54.38) and came in fourth in the 400-meter relay (55.43).
Running on the 1600-meters for Hamilton were Megan Massingill, Angel Banda, Chasey Senger and Doxie Thompson. On the 800-meter relay were Morgan Nolen, Banda, Paige Owen and Senger. Carrying the baton on the 400-meters were Nolen, Kiauna Brand, Brenna Payne and Sonal Patel.
Senger won the 100-meter dash in 12:78 and Patel was fourth in 13.98. Amber Weems won the 1600-meter run in 5:28.33 and the 3200-meter run in 11:49. Nicole Wenzel was third in the 3200-meters in 13:07 and fifth in the 1600-meters in 6:17.24. Alex Housden placed fifth in the 3200-meter (13:32).
Tiffani Headley won the 800-meter run (2:38.26) and Banda was second (2:39.30).
Thompson won both hurdles events. She ran a 16.39 in the 100-meter hurdles and a 47.55 in the 300-meter hurdles. Nolen placed fourth in the 300-hurdles in 55.60.
Massingill came in third in the 400-meter (1:06.89).
Melody Perret placed second in the shot put with a heave of 31’9 ½”.
In the junior varsity division, the Hamilton girls placed second with 93 points, behind only Clifton with 136.
Hamilton won the 800-meter relay and the 1600-meter relay. Cheslea Sepolio, Genee Martinez, Sarah Pearce and Nikki Owen ran a 2:03.61 in the 800-meters. Sepolio, Martinez, Alex English and N. Owen ran a 4:58 in the 1600-meters.
N. Owen won the 100-meter dash in 13:51 and Hannah Beshears was fifth in 15:05.
English won the 800-meter run in 2:44.58 and came in second in the 400-meters (1:12.45).
Martinez was fifth in the 200-meter dash (31.99) and English sixth (32.26).
Tonya Wells threw the shot 26’7” to claim first place and Sarah Pearce cleared 4’4” to win the high jump.
