However, Coach Howard Cox said the boys finished up with perhaps their best efforts of the season and it should give the younger boys some confidence for next year. On the previous Friday the Bulldogs lost to the Eagles 45-54 in Bruceville-Eddy. Against McGregor, Hamil-ton trailed 7-16 at the end of the first quarter, but then played their guest even in the second quarter, both scoring eight. Hamilton launched an impressive comeback effort in the second half, outscoring McGregor 15-11 in the third quarter and 11-9 in the fourth. Jordan Lowe led the Hamilton offense with 16 points. Mason Burke added eight, Keaton Muxworthy seven, James Ratliff six and Ethan Cathey three. In the loss at Bruceville-Eddy, Hamilton trailed by one at the end of the first quarter, but then took a 26-23 lead to the half. The third quarter proved to be the Bulldogs undoing. They were outscored 23-7. They made a comeback in the fourth, with 12 points to the Eagles’ eight, but came up just a little short. Lowe was again the leading scorer with 14 points. Ratliff was also in double figures with 10. Burke added six, Aaron Lewallen five, Muxworthy and Truman Baize three and Jordan Ernstes and Cathey two. |
