- The Bulldog varsity boys’ basketball team lost games to Crawford and Clifton last week. Both games were played in Hamilton.
On Tuesday the Pirates defeated the Bulldogs 63-39.
Coach Howard Cox said, “The Dogs played aggressive the entire game. The third quarter was our undoing, as we struggled to score and Crawford got hot at just the right time.”
Mason Burke asserted his will, as he went for 21 points, commented Cox. He also pulled in 10 rebounds. James Ratliff had eight points and 10 rebounds, Truman Baize six points, five rebounds and two steals and Keaton Muxworthy scored two points and grabbed four rebounds and had one steal. Will Baird pulled in two rebounds.
On Friday, Clifton defeated Hamilton 43-28. Cox said, “The Bulldogs played well defensively, but just couldn’t get the shots to fall. The Dogs struggled from the field, shooting just 28 percent.
Jorden Lowe led the Hamilton offense with 11 points. Aaron Lewallen chipped in six, Ratliff five, Ethan Cathey three, Baize two and Burke one.
Burke also had seven rebounds, Baize and Cathey three and Lowe two. Lowe had four assists and Baize three.
The season is winding down for the Bulldogs. They were to travel to Moody on Tuesday and be at Bruceville-Eddy on Friday. They will conclude next Tuesday at home against McGregor.
