Boys to start district Friday

TO START DISTRICT- The Bulldog boys will start district basketball action this Friday in Crawford and then travel to Clifton next Tuesday. Above, Aaron Lewallen brings the ball up the court in a game in Hamilton earlier in the season.

- The Bulldog varsity boys’ basketball team appears to be improving at just the right time as they prepare to start district play this Friday in Crawford. The Bulldogs traveled to Whitney last Friday and claimed an impressive 58-36 victory over the 3A Wildcats.
Hamilton got out to a 10-8 first quarter lead and then added to their lead in each of the following three periods of play. Hamilton led 24-16 at the half and led 42-27 entering the final quarter.
Mason Burke provided much of the offensive spark for the Bulldogs, scoring 17. John Galindo and Jorden Lowe were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. James Ratliff added six, Truman Baize five, Keaton Muxworthy four, Acy May three and Jordan Ernstes two.
The Bulldogs were to travel to Johnson City on Tuesday of this week for their final pre-district game.
Over the holidays, the Bulldogs played in the Godley Tournament. The Dogs lost to Santo 52-57, to Rio Vista 31-49 and to Axtell 41-67.
Against Santo, Ratliff led the Bulldogs with 17 points, Lowe had 11, Galindo eight, Baize six, Muxworthy and Aaron Lewallen four and May two.
In the loss to Rio Vista, Lowe had nine, Muxworthy and Ratliff seven, Galindo and Lewallen three and Ernstes two. Against Axtell, Galindo had 14, Muxworthy eight, Lewallen seven, Ratliff and Ernstes four and Baize and May two.
