with three district games left
The Hamilton girls were scheduled to play Crawford in Hamilton on Tuesday night with an opportunity to lock-up a playoff berth. Any win in the final three games assures them a trip to the playoffs. Friday they will again be at home against Clifton and then complete the regular season next Tuesday in Moody. At the start of the week, McGregor had a 7-0 record, Hamilton 5-2, Bruceville-Eddy 4-3, Crawford 3-4, Clifton 1-6 and Moody 1-6. Friday’s game is a special occasion for the Lady Bulldogs as it is the annual “Parent Night.” Also, the 1998 Lady Bulldog state championship team will be recognized during half time of the girls’ game Friday. The Lady Bulldogs took a large step toward the playoffs last Tuesday night in Hamilton with a 41-27 win over the Bruceville-Eddy Lady Eagles. After a slow start in the first half, the Lady Bulldogs dominated the second half to claim the victory. The score was tied 8-8 at the end of the first quarter of play and Hamilton trailed 15-18 at the intermission. But the Lady Bulldogs quickly erased the Lady Eagles’ hopes for an upset, outscoring their guest 15-5 in the third quarter and 11-4 in the final period. Chasey Senger led the Hamilton offensive explosion in the second half. After being held to only four points in the first half, Senger scorched the nets in the second half with 16 points for a game-high total of 20. Jordan Box was second high on the Lady Bulldog scoring tally with nine points, including five from the charity stripe. Christlyn Chapman added six points and Doxie Thompson and Riley Burks each had three. In McGregor on Friday night, the Hamilton girls could not keep pace with their hosts’ high octane offense, loosing 42-63. Hamilton trailed 10-17 at the end of the first quarter, 18-38 at the half and 26-54 going into the fourth. Senger was the only Hamilton player to reach double figures with 10. Burks hit three shots from past the three point line for nine, Chapman had eight, Box seven, Thompson four and Nicole Wenzel and Ari Cavitt two. |
