Lady Bulldogs finish
first round in second

- The Lady Bulldog varsity basketball team completed the first round of district play last week with wins over Clifton and Moody. The Hamilton girls are 4-1 in District 21-2A play trailing only McGregor with a 5-0 record. The Hamilton girls are in sole possession of second place.
The Lady Bulldogs were to start the second round Tuesday of this week against Bruceville-Eddy in Hamilton and will continue district play Friday in McGregor. Next Tuesday they will be back home against Crawford.
In Clifton last Tuesday, the Lady Bulldogs claimed an important 43-39 victory. Hamilton trailed 10-12 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored the Lady Cubs 10-4 in the second period to take a 20-16 lead to the half time. Hamilton led 32-25 going into the final period of play and held on for the win.
Chasey Senger led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points, including going six for six in the fourth quarter from the free throw line. Riley Burks was right behind with 15 points on five shots from outside the three-point line.
Jordan Box scored six for the Lady Bulldogs, Nicole Wenzel and Doxie Thompson each added two and Ari Cavitt and Christlyn Chapman had one.
On Friday in Hamilton, the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Moody Lady Bearcats 52-36.
The game remained close through the first quarter with Hamilton having a 10-7 lead. But the Lady Bulldogs opened up the lead in the second quarter with 16 points to go to the half with a 26-14 advantage. Hamilton outscored their guests 11-10 in the third quarter and 15-12 in the fourth.
Burks and Senger were both again in double figures. This time it was Burks leading the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points, including three three-pointers. Senger contributed 10 points.
Chapman and Thompson each had eight points, Sonal Patel six, Jordan Box four and Angel Banda and Cavitt two.
