to keep playoff hopes alive
Although the Bulldogs are heavy favorites over the Bearcats they can’t afford to overlook them. Often coming off an emotion-packed win such as the Dogs had last week in Clifton, it is hard to get ready for the next game. Hamilton coaches are taking every step possible this week to guard against that. The Bearcats are 1-8 on the season and 0-4 in district play. Last week they were drummed by Crawford 48-7. Their only win of the season came in the fourth week when they defeated Bosqueville 21-20. In other pre-district games they lost to Thorndale 0-26, Rosebud-Lott 27-33, Centerville 8-25 and Dublin 0-34. They opened district play with a 0-46 loss to Clifton, they lost to Bruceville-Eddy 7-33 and then to McGregor 0-40. The Bulldogs are now 6-3 on the season and 2-2 in district. Clifton, Crawford and McGregor are all now 3-1 in district and Bruceville-Eddy is 1-3. The Harris High School Rating System has the Bulldogs as 42-point favorites over the Bearcats. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Kooken Field. Their will be only two Thursday night games, both at Moody. Moody has only one combined junior high team and they will face the Bulldogs combined seventh and eighth grades at 5 p.m. The junior varsity game will follow. In other District 21-2A varsity action on Friday, Harris picks McGregor over Clifton by seven. Again, Hamilton fans will be hoping Harris is right. In another lopsided pick, Harris has Crawford as a 31-point favorite over Bruceville-Eddy. Another game of interest for Hamilton fans will pit Mart against Marlin. Harris picks Mart by 12. |
