Amber Weems wins
Cross Country meet

VARSITY GIRLS- Lead by Amber Weems with a first place finish, the Lady Bulldog varsity cross country team placed second overall in the annual Hamilton Pre-District Meet last Wednesday at Perry Country Club. - The Hamilton Pre-District Cross Country Meet was held last Wednesday at the Perry Country Club and was a great success.
The meet started with the junior high girls’ race, which was won by Chasity King of Zepher. The Junior High Lady Bulldogs placed fourth overall in the team competition led by London Anthony (11th), April Martinez (13th), Mellie Jo Smith (14th), Kortney Restrom (23rd) and Andrienne Hudson (25th).
The Priddy duo of Adam Heers and Sam Rhoades set the pace for the junior high boys’ race, finishing first and second. The Hamilton boys’ trio of Sage Sleeper (16th), Dylan Melde (42nd) and Joseph Jones (46th) did a great job in the large field, according to Coach Linda Brigham.
The varsity girls’ race was won by Hamilton’s Amber Weems 12:08 with the Lady Bulldogs placing second overall as a team just seven points behind Stephenville.
The Lady Bulldogs’ top seven finishers were Weems (1st), Nicole Wenzel (8th), Shelby Pardy (9th), Kiauna Brand (14th), Angel Banda (15th), Caitlyn Bedwell(31st) and Alex Housden (33rd).
Also running for the Hamilton girls were Morgan Nolen, Bailie Marwitz, Kandey Turner, Tiffani Headley and Sage Nix.
The varsity boys’ race was won by Logan Mynar of Kopperl, defeating 1A rival Andrew Gordon of Evant. For Hamilton, Ben Weems placed fifth, Richard Sepolio sixth and Austin Koehler 45th.
The meet is annually one of the largest high school meets in Central Texas. This year 75 girls ran in the varsity division, 69 in the junior varsity and 149 in the junior high. In the boys’ divisions, there were 50 in the varsity and 82 in the junior high.
