Friday to face Cougars
In the first ever meeting of the two teams last year, the Bulldogs put on an offensive fireworks show, winning 56-26. But both teams went on to have good seasons, making the playoffs. The Dogs were 9-2 and the Cougars 6-5. The Cougars were 5-2 in District 26-2A, good enough for third place. The Cougars return 12 lettermen this season, including five offensive starters and seven defensive. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine predicts Jarrell to finish fourth this season in district play behind Salado, Troy and Rogers. The Bulldogs will get a chance to test Salado next week in their first home game of the season. Jarrell is located just off of Interstate 35 between Salado and Georgetown. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. The Harris Ratings service predicts Hamilton as a 21-point favorite over Jarrell. Other games of interest for Hamilton fans this week includes: Crawford-Early, Clifton-Grandview, Moody-Rosebud-Lott, McGregor-Salado, Bruceville-Eddy-Blooming Grove, Hico-DeLeon, Maypearl-Kerens and Comanche-Llano. Two games that look especially interesting are Crawford-Early and McGregor-Salado. Harris picks Early as a three-point favorite over Crawford and Salado by three over McGregor. The Hamilton junior varsity will host the Cougars on Thursday with kickoff at 6:30 p.m., while the junior high teams travel to Jarrell starting at 5 p.m. |
