- The Lady Bulldog varsity volleyball team is off to a very busy, but also promising start to the season. The HHS girls began with a three game sweep of Evant Aug. 14, 25-21, 27-25 and 25-23. Then, on Aug. 16-18 the Lady Bulldog claimed third place in the Clifton Tournament competing against some tough volleyball teams, including Lampasas, West, Hillsboro, Austin-Johnston and Bartlett. The Lady Bulldog lost in matches to Lampasas, West and Hillsboro, but defeated Austin-Johnston and Bartlett.
Last Friday the Lady Bulldogs claimed a thrilling victory over the Hico Lady Tigers in Hamilton in a match that went five games.
The Lady Bulldog won the first game 25-20, but then lost the next two 20-25 and 15-25. The Hamilton girls claimed the final two games 25-15 and 14-9.
Coach Deborah Moore said this week that she is extremely happy with how hard the girls are working and the progress they are making.
“We are really starting to come together as a team,” said Coach Moore. “With the progress we are making, I think this can be a really exciting season for Hamilton volley-ball.”
The Lady Bulldogs were to play Glen Rose on Tuesday of this week in Hamilton, but then be on the road for their next several games. They will compete in the Gatesville Tournament starting this Thursday and travel to Grandview next Tuesday.
