set for this Monday at HHS

POWER OF PURPLE WEEK- Hamilton County Judge Randy Mills signed a proclamation Monday proclaiming May 11-17 as the Power of Purple Week in Hamilton County. The color of purple is the signature color of the Relay For Life events signifying the passion that cancer survivors, the families and loved ones feel for the eradication of this disease. The Hamilton County Relay for Life will be held on the courthouse square May 16-17. The 12-hour event gives people an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer, honor cancer survivors and remember cancer victims. Relay for Life events held across the country raise over $100 million for the American Cancer Society and cancer research each year. With Judge Mills above is Relay for Life volunteer and cancer survivor Ronda Baker.

The Hamilton bands will present their annual spring concert Monday night, May 12. The concert will begin with the fifth grade band followed by sixth grade, junior high and high school bands.
Director Tim Edins promises an outstanding per-formance with interesting musical selections from each group.
For the first time, the Band Boosters will host a hamburger supper before the concert with serving beginning at 5:30 p.m. The menu will include a hamburger, chips and a drink.
Organizers are hoping the dinner will provide an opportunity for families to enjoy a good meal at a great price followed by an evening of entertainment.
This is the group’s final fundraiser before their Florida trip. The community is encouraged to support the band by attending both the concert, which is free and the supper.
