The Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department will hold a fish fry on Saturday, April 26 from 5-7 p.m. in the St. John Lutheran Church Family Life Center on Highway 22 just east of Hamilton. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children and senior citizens.
The HVFD currently has 31 members, including six junior volunteers.
Fire Chief Toby Logan told the Hamilton City Council at its regular meeting last month, that there have been a lot of changes in the Fire Department during the past two years. He said that the members are committed to making the department the best it can possibly be. He said that in the past year, the members had received more hours of training than in the previous five years combined. He said every member of the de-partment is now certified in CPR.
The department also in-stalled 63 smoke detectors for area residents last year, who either could not afford them or were not physically able to install them.
“We are committed to giving back to the community,” said Logan.
