RIBBON CUTTING- The Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting last Friday morning to welcome Troy and Donna Smith, owners of Kool Beans and The Rollin’ Pin, as its newest members. The store offers bread, cookies, specialty cakes, pies and an Espresso bar and Smoothie bar. Located just north of the square on Bell Avenue, the facility is also available for meetings, luncheons and other special occasions. Above, Mayor Roy Rumsey holds the ceremonial scissors and the Smiths are holding the right end of the ribbon. In the middle, holding a sign that reads, Semi Retired, is former Rollin’ Pin owner, Ronnie Wenzel. Looking on are Chamber members, directors, friends and family members. Staff Photo

The annual City of Hamilton Clean-up Day will be Saturday, May 3. Waste Management trucks will begin picking up trash at curbside at 7 a.m.
City Administrator Bill Funderburk said residents should have their trash at the curb prior to 7 a.m. to ensure its being collected. He said the trucks will only collect on each street one time.
Mike Lovell, chairman of the Mayor’s Beautification Committee, is asking volunteers to meet at City Hall at 7:30 a.m. that morning. They will then work from the square out each direction on the main highways picking up trash.
“This is an important annual event to make our community as attractive as possible to those passing through,” said Lovell. “I ask anyone who is able, to please come and give us a helping hand.”
Also, city residents will be allowed to haul brush to the City Service Center east of town on Highway 22 from 7 a.m. until noon. In addition, there will be dumpsters at the Service Center for persons wishing to haul off disposable items. Tires, batteries and chemicals will not be accepted.
