Filing deadline Monday
for city and school races

Stanley Morgan
- Filing deadline for the Hamilton ISD Board and the Hamilton City Council elec-tions is Monday, March 10.
As of Tuesday morning, two of the three school board members whose terms are expiring had filed for re-election, Herman Lanmon, Jr. and Jon Mark Jester. The other incumbent, Ken Shaffer, had not yet filed and had not publicly stated whether he would.
In the City Council elections, all three incumbents whose terms are expiring had filed. Seeking another term are Mayor Roy Rumsey, Betty Jenkins and Grant Lengefeld.
Stanley Morgan also told The Herald-News Friday that he intends to run for mayor, although as of Tuesday morning city officials said he had not filed.
The Herald-News allows each local candidate to make an announcement statement. Morgan issued a one sentence statement:
“I’m Stanley Morgan and I’m announcing my candidacy for Mayor of Hamilton.”
Election Day for both city and school elections is Saturday, May 10 and will be held in the courthouse. Early voting starts April 28 and ends May 6. Early voting in the school race will be at the main school office and for the city council race at City Hall.
