Voters across Texas will go to the polls next Tuesday to cast ballots in the Democratic and Republican Party pri-maries. Early voting will end at 5 p.m. Friday. All early voting is taking place in the courthouse.
On Election Day, voting will also take place in the courthouse with the exception of voters in Precinct 7, who will cast their ballots at the Hico Community Center.
As of Tuesday morning, 437 ballots had been cast by personal appearance in early voting in Hamilton.
In the Democratic Primary, not only was the presidential nomination race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton still close, but also the race for Hamilton County Sheriff between incumbent Randy Murphree and challen-ger Billy Hollingsworth has created local interest.
In the Republican Primary, Gregg Bewley is unopposed for his party’s nomination for Hamilton County Sheriff. However, incumbent Precinct 1 County Commissioner Jim Boatwright drew an opponent for his job in Johnny W. Wagner, Jr.
For the Republican nomi-nation for President, John McCain appears to have a comfortable lead after other state primaries, but is still challenged by Mike Huckabee.
Both parties will hold precinct conventions after the polls close Tuesday night.
The following is a list of Republican and Democratic candidates on the March 4 Primary Ballots.
