LEADERSHIP FORUM - The 2007-08 John Ben Shepperd Leadership Forum was held Feb. 20 at the Texas 4-H Center in Brownwood. Eight students represented Hamilton High School at the forum. These students spent the day in leadership sessions and culminated the day by organizing their own community service project to implement over the next few weeks. The students are working to organize a drug and alcohol free monthly movie night for the teens within the Hamilton community. Their project is being designed to give kids an alternative to drugs and alcohol by providing a safe environment in which kids can congregate and have a great time on the weekend. Please watch the paper for additional information in the coming weeks. Students who attended the seminar are pictured (back, l-r) Elliott Cude, Lauren Lanmon, Nicole Wenzel, Tonya Wells and Zachary Anglin; (front, l-r) Sheldon Coble, Mason Burke and Paul Tober. Sponsors were Jennifer Ingram and Karen Bell. Staff Photo

Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples will be at the Hamilton Public Library at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, February 28 to present a book, “Deep Roots,” documenting the first 100 years of the TDA. The public is invited to attend the presentation.
Commissioner Staples had been scheduled to be in Hamilton in January for the county’s 150th birthday cele-bration at the courthouse, but had to cancel at the last minute when weather would not allow him to fly. At that time, he promised to make a trip to Hamilton in the near future.
