- Dallas Summer Musicals, presented by Comerica Bank, the largest producer of live theatrical entertainment in the Southwest, has named Stan Gardner Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2008. Gardner took over as board chairman in December 2007.
Under Gardner’s leadership, DSM plans to continue its mission of bringing the best of musical theater to North Texas. Additionally, the board will continue its role as a leading not-for-profit organization through community outreach programs and its School of Musical Theatre.
“I am very proud of our outreach programs designed to help young people in Dallas experience a Broadway show usually for the very first time,” Gardner said.
Gardner grew up in the Central Texas town of Hamilton, attended The University of Texas at Austin and has lived in Dallas since 1982. Gardner is president and CEO of Personalized Communications, an outsourced call center serving clients nationwide. Stan and his wife Sara Lee have three children. Their son Madison is a senior at Highland Park High School, Helen is a junior at Highland Park and Luke is an eighth grader at Highland Park Middle School.
“Our School of Musical Theatre, housed at The Majestic Theatre, continues to train young people as well as adults who have been cast in local shows and even a few national touring casts,” Gardner said. “We have a big year planned with 17 shows comprising our 68th season. Michael Jenkins and our entire staff have worked very hard to offer our patrons a wide variety of musical theatre in 2008. There is definitely something for everyone from Disney’s High School Musical to The Drowsy Chaperone and The Color Purple.”
Gardner has served in various positions on the DSM board and executive committee since 1993.
In addition, 12 officers and 20 new members, plus five new executive committee members, joined the DSM Board.
In making the announcement, DSM President and Managing Director Michael Jenkins said, “Dallas Summer Musicals is indeed fortunate to have someone with Stan Gardner’s business background, coupled with his commitment to the arts, leading our organization."
Immediate past chairman of Dallas Summer Musicals is Kit Williams, with Dick Quisenberry serving as chairman elect. Ruth Altshuler holds the title of honorary chair and Michael A. Jenkins is president and managing director of DSM.

Dixon, VP investment; Barry Epstein, VP marketing; Brice Beaird, VP public relations; Meredy McClure, VP special events; Paul A. Stotts, VP personnel and compensation; Michael C.
