BAND REHEARSALS – The Hamilton High School Band began practice on Aug. 4 with up-coming freshmen orientation to high school band. The rest of the band joined them on Aug. 6. They have started on the music for their half-time show and practiced marching drills. Band Director Tim Edins said the band is somewhat smaller this year due to the graduation of a large senior class and a small incoming freshman class. He said he is looking forward to an exciting show and another outstanding year of band. Staff Photo

Friends of the Hamilton Public Library have scheduled a book sale from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Lee Conference Center on the south side of the square in Hamilton on Saturday, Aug. 30 in conjunction with the Hamilton Dove Festival.
Friend’s volunteers will move thousands of books into the Lee Center for the event featuring novels, reference works, children’s books, cook-books, mysteries, travel guides, movies and much more, all available at bargain prices. Hardbound books will be sold for $1.50 and paperbacks for $.50. Selected books may be made available at higher prices.
Because the library is only partially funded by city and county dollars, monies raised through donations and fund-raisers are crucial to the contin-ued operation of the Hamilton Public Library.
Funds from book sales and other Friend’s fundraising activities are used to support the summer reading program, purchase children’s books, supply copier service, provide match-ing funds and otherwise assist the library in providing services to area residents.
All sales benefit the Hamilton Public Library. Donations of books to be included in the sale and assistance in setting up and conducting the sale are welcome and appreciated. For additional information about the sale or to become a Friends of the Library member, contact Debra Adams at 386-8754.
