Hamilton “Yard of the Month”
|
|
TRIP TO ALBANY- Members of the Colonial Study Club from Hamilton took husbands, fam-ily members and friends to see “Fort Griffin Fandangle,” an outdoor play held the last two weekends in June each year in Albany. The group also toured the historic town, had a real cowboy breakfast at a chuck wagon behind the Ice House Restaurant and went to the historic Lambshead Ranch, owned by the famous Texas pioneer families, the Mathews and Reynolds. Twenty-three people made the trip from Hamilton.

The dedicated hard work that makes a yard beautiful is about to get proper recognition for some Hamilton County residents.
Nominations may now be made for Hamilton Master Gardener “Yard of the Month,” a program that will run from August through November of this year. The house must be located in Hamilton County, and the yard must be able to be seen from a public road or street.
Nomination forms are available at the Texas AgriLife office (formerly Hamilton County Extension Office), in the County Courthouse, second floor (102 N. Rice, Suite E, fax 386-8727), and may be submitted to that office or to any Hamilton County Master Gardener or Intern.
Nomination deadline for each month’s award is the last day of the previous month, so July 31 will be the last day to submit one for the August award. Persons may nominate someone else’s yard or their own.
A photo of the winners will appear in The Hamilton Herald-News and will also be submitted to The Hico News Review. The homeowner will also receive a certificate of appreciation from Hamilton County Master Gardeners. Further information is available at the AgriLife office at 254/386-3919.
