Second work ethics class
approved by EDC board

AWARDS – Alyssa Bottlinger of I Spy 4-H Club recently entered items in the Home Economics division of the Central Texas Youth Fair in Bosque County. Ribbons she won included four first place, two second place, one third place and one fourth place in the craft, textile and art divi-sion. She placed in all eight of her entries, placing third overall in the textile division.
- At its regular meeting last night the EDC Board approved funds to support another pre-employment work ethics class for 16-17 year olds to be taught by Emily Dossey.
Dossey reported positive evaluations of the pilot class from both her students and em-ployers who participated in the two-week, 40-hour course.
She told the board that stu-dents liked the morning course time, gained practical work environment knowledge both on tours and listening to em-ployers describe the kind of employee they look for and proved to be a great opportu-nity to network with local em-ployers.
She said that the certificates of completion presented by Mayor Roy Rumsey at a recep-tion in their honor were impres-sive to the students and will be a major resume item that will be helpful with job applica-tions.
On a motion by EDC Board Member Betty Jenkins, second by Board Member Steve Wat-son, the board approved the second work ethics class to be held July 21-August 1.
The class will be made up of ten students. Further informa-tion for those interested in ap-plying may be gained by call-ing the EDC office at 386-5954.
