| PAINFUL INTRODUCTION- Three dogs of Randel Craig’s received a painful introduction to a porcupine last Friday morning at Craig’s place northeast of Hamilton. Porcupines are not frequently seen in this area, but as these dogs found out, they are present. The porcupine actually fared worse than the dogs, not surviving the encounter. The dogs are OK after having the quills extracted. One of the dogs had to be sedated in order to remove the barbed projectiles. |
Sergeant Ronnie Ashmore told the Herald-News that throughout the summer the Hamilton Sheriff’s Department and Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department have been inun-dated by a series of false re-ports of fires. Ashmore said after an intensive two-week investigation the juvenile was charged with making the false reports and setting two fires, one on Highway 281 north across from the Hamilton Commissioner Company and another on Highway 22 east of Hamilton.
Ashmore said that more than a dozen false alarms were called in dating back to early summer.
The juvenile has admitted to making the false reports and setting the two fires.
Ashmore said the investiga-tion has not uncovered any evi-dence to link the juvenile to any of the other numerous fires in the county this summer.
Because he is a juvenile, his name will not be released.
