SPRING IS HANGING ON- While most of the beautiful Spring flowers have long since faded away, these Texas Blue Bells were just reaching their peak last week at the Soup and Sue Fuqua residence on Medowlark St. in east Hamilton. Soup mows around the developing flowers each Spring to allow them to reach their full glory. They vary in shade from a deep purple to a light lavendar. Staff Photo

The City of Hamilton introduced a new service to its customers recently. Individuals and businesses can now pay their bills by credit or debit card. The bills may be paid at City Hall or on-line from your home or business.
“This is just an added con-venience for our customers,” said City Utility Billing Clerk Erin Craig. “The City charges no additional fee for this ser-vice; however, the company that manages the service charges $3 for up to $100 and addition $3 for each $100 after that up to $500. For any amount above $500 there is a three percent charge.”
To pay your bill online, go to the City’s webpage at hamiltontexas.com, click on our community, then city services and scroll down to on-line payments.
Craig said that a few customers have already taken advantage of the service and that she expects more will as they learn of the new service.
In addition to paying utility bills, including tap and connect/disconnect charges, municipal court fees and fines can also be paid by credit or debit card.
At the last City Council meeting, City Administrator Bill Funderburk told the council that he expects that the service will be appreciated by out-of-town people who may have been issued a ticket here.
“This service will allow them to pay their fines online and not have to return to Hamilton,” explained Funderburk.
Councilman Mike Collett said at that meeting, “From our point, it’s just another convenience for our customers and doesn’t cost us anything.”
The firm that provides the service is Hamer Enterprises and is located in McAllen. It is the same firm that Hamilton County uses.
