At a special called school board meeting on Tuesday night of last week, long-time Hamilton ISD educator Mona Gloff was promoted to Hamilton Junior High School principal. She replaces Brenda Smith, who has resigned to accept a position in Burleson.
A Hamilton native, Gloff graduated from Hamilton High School in 1975 before attending Texas Woman’s University in Denton and then graduating from Texas A&M University. She later earned a master’s degree from Tarleton State University in school administration.
She has been a coach, teacher and administrator at HISD for more than 25 years. Most recently, she has served as assistant elementary principal.
The board also hired Blake Sandford to fill a coaching va-cancy. He will be the head Bulldog baseball coach and an assistant football coach. He was hired on the recommendation of new Bulldog athletic director and head football coach David Wright.
Sandford had been the head baseball coach at Sweetwater since July 2005.
The board filled three other teaching positions. Maria Ortega from Dublin will be the new high school Spanish teacher.
Also, Jim Taylor of Hamilton has been hired to teach fifth grade, and Paula (Winn) Faust will fill a first grade position.
