The Hamilton County Live-stock Association will hold a fish fry on Saturday, June 28, to raise funds to help build a new livestock barn at Fair Park. The fundraiser will be held in the Jayson Harris Pavilion.
The new 175x100 foot barn will replace the old 175x50 foot pig barn that is in danger of collapsing. The barn is essential to the Hamilton County Youth Fair, held each January.
Plans for the new barn will be on display at the fish fry.
The fish fry will be all-you-can-eat for a minimum dona-tion of $10.
In addition there will be an auction and raffles. Individuals or businesses who would like to donate items for the auction, should contact Brandi at 223-0821 or Keslie at 216-0081.
Two donations have already been made for raffles. There will be a raffle for a one-night stay in Dallas and four tickets to a Dallas Cowboys’ game. There will be another raffle for a side of beef.
Also, there will be jackpot horseshoe pitching and washer contests starting at 3 p.m. Children will enjoy face painting.
The Livestock Association is currently seeking sponsors for sheet metal to be placed on the new building. Each sheet sponsor for a minimum dona-tion of $100 will have their contribution acknowledged at the new barn.
The Livestock Association hopes to have the new barn ready for the next junior live-stock show in January. The old barn was built in 1968.
