I would like to know what is the meaning of "Antiseptic" in English and what is the correct translation in Spanish?
I saw this term in a list of ethnobotanic uses.

Antiseptics (from Greek ἀντί anti, "against" and σηπτικός sēptikos, "putrefactive") are antimicrobial substances that are applied to living tissue/skin to reduce the possibility of infection, sepsis, or putrefaction. - See link


Antiseptic in Spanish is Antiséptico
Los antisépticos (del griego αντι /anti/, contra, y σηπτικος /septicos/, putrefactivo) son sustancias antimicrobianas que se aplican a un tejido vivo o sobre la piel para reducir la posibilidad de infección, sepsis o putrefacción. En general, deben distinguirse de los antibióticos que destruyen microorganismos en el cuerpo, y de los desinfectantes, que destruyen microorganismos existentes en objetos no vivos. Algunos antisépticos son auténticos germicidas, capaces de destruir microbios (bactericidas), mientras que otros son bacteriostáticos y solamente previenen o inhiben su crecimiento. - See link
