I would like to know what is the meaning of "Typhus" in English and what is the correct translation in Spanish?

Meaning of Typhus
Typhus is any of several similar diseases caused by Rickettsia bacteria. The causative organism Rickettsia is an obligate intracellular parasitic bacterium that cannot survive for long outside living cells. It is transmitted to humans via external parasites such as fleas and ticks. While "typhoid" means "typhus-like", typhus and typhoid fever are distinct diseases caused by different genera of bacteria. - See link

El tifus es un conjunto de enfermedades infecciosas producidas por varias especies de bacteria del género Rickettsia, transmitidas por la picadura de diferentes artrópodos como piojos, pulgas, ácaros y garrapatas que portan diferentes aves y mamíferos.
